Our Ff1 showcar is faithfully reproduced in every detail, using the same carbon fibre and composite materials as the iconic original which carried Kimi Räikkönen to the Formula 1 World Driver's Championship. . . and gave Ferrari their last constructor's title.
[ BONUS: what is a 'Showcar'? ]Also known as a replica or tribute car, a 'showcar' is custom-built specifically for public display, to create a buzz of excitement and attract attention, rather than to race.
So, although our F2007 tribute car has no engine, no gearbox and no electrical system (other than the battery powered steering wheel display) and therefore can't be driven, it is significantly lighter (220kg compared to the 600Kg of the original), and is easily manoeuvrable by hand on a purpose built dolly.
With the nose cone and wheels detached, the weight of the largest element is reduced to 130Kg.
It also means that the car contains no volatiles; no fuel, oil, transmission or hydraulic fluids, and poses no risk of electrocution. . . bringing it fully into compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
